Tossing Yu Sheng & Winning Big: IM’s CNY 2025 Highlights!

Chinese New Year (CNY) is a time of joy, togetherness, and celebration – and here at Impossible Marketing, we made sure to embrace the festive season with enthusiasm! From an exciting pre-CNY game to a lively reunion filled with delicious food and good company, our 2025 Chinese New Year celebration was one for the books.

Warming up with a fun mini game

Before the main festivities even began, we got into the CNY spirit with a mini game about a week before our official celebration. The setup was simple but thrilling: on a table lay money of various amounts, ranging from humble 50-cent coins to an impressive $50 note. The game’s challenge? Roll a bottle of water and hope it lands on the biggest prize.

Lady Luck certainly had her favourites that day. Kavitha and Joanne were the luckiest of all, each walking away with a crisp $50 note – talk about a prosperous start to the new year! But the ultimate prize went to Jue Xi, who won something even more special: a one-on-one meal with our CEO, Alan!

The main event: CNY celebration on 24th January

The excitement didn’t end there. On 24th January, the entire Impossible Marketing team came together for our official Chinese New Year celebration! To add to the festive atmosphere, everyone was dressed in shades of red, symbolising good fortune and happiness.

Walking into the office that day was like stepping into a CNY wonderland. Our entrance was beautifully decorated with large, eye-catching Chinese New Year ornaments, complementing our iconic neon Impossible Marketing sign. The entrance display featured a lush green backdrop that made the glowing red and white ‘Impossible Marketing’ neon sign stand out even more. Next to it, a stunning arrangement of festive decorations included red and orange lanterns with auspicious Chinese characters written on them, symbolising prosperity, good luck, and happiness. Stackable red boxes with calligraphy completed the setup, adding a touch of tradition and grandeur to the entrance. It was the perfect backdrop for group photos and festive selfies!

What’s a Chinese New Year celebration without a lou hei? Just like last year, we opted for a Halal-certified yu sheng so everyone could partake in this cherished tradition. And let’s just say – it was anything but quiet.

What’s a Chinese New Year celebration without a lou hei?

The moment the yu sheng was laid out, everyone grabbed a pair of chopsticks and prepared to toss the ingredients high into the air while shouting out their wishes for the new year. It was a messy, loud, and joyful affair as we took turns adding ingredients one by one, with each ingredient symbolising blessings for prosperity, success, and happiness. The smoked salmon in the yu sheng was a crowd favourite, and by the end of the lo hei, the table (and maybe even the floor) was covered in a colourful mix of prosperity!

This year, we switched things up from last year’s bento sets and went all out with a buffet! The spread was filled with delicious local food, from flavourful mains to mouth-watering desserts. Everyone indulged in their favourites, making sure to start the year well-fed and happy.

As a final touch to the celebrations, every team member received an ang bao from our generous bosses, Alan and Serene. Some of our senior colleagues even followed the traditional custom of offering oranges and words of blessing in exchange for their ang baos – keeping the beautiful traditions of CNY alive.
